Caitlin McCormack, Ballet Mistress + Senior Staff

Int. + Adv. Ballet | Introduction to Choreography

Caitlin McCormack trained at the Augusta Ballet School under the direction of Zanne Colton and Peter Powlus. In May 2012 Caitlin graduated from the University of South Carolina, earning a degree in Dance Performance and Choreography.  While attending USC she had the opportunity to perform works by George Balanchine, Thaddeus Davis, Tanya Wideman-Davis, Twyla Tharp, and Helen Pickett, to name a few. Caitlin found her love for choreography while enrolled in class with Thaddeus Davis. Caitlin's senior piece, Four, was selected by the faculty to be the first student choreographed work adjudicated into the American College Dance Festival, representing USC Dance.

Caitlin spent her summers and winters furthering her education with Spectrum Dance Theatre, GloATL, LA Contemporary Dance Company and The American Dance Festival. She has also had the opportunity to dance professionally with Wideman Davis Dance Theatre, Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre, GloATL, and The Movement Union. Caitlin presented choreography professionally with Dance Augusta, Blabbermouth ATL, USC Dance Company, Kennesaw State University, Dance Lab, and The Movement Union.

Since moving to Charleston in 2014, Caitlin danced with Charleston Dance Project under the direction of Jenny Broe and Sara Sumner. She now dances with The Movement Union and is on faculty at Dance Lab and Creative Edge Dance Center.  Her ballet and contemporary classes are filled with spacious movement and emphasize on movement quality and presentation.
