CLASS DESCRIPTIONS


Ruffles

 

A Ballet & Tap or Jazz & Hip Hop combo class for dancers ages 2-3.  Your “Little Bit” will learn and review beginning techniques of each style through creative movement and self discovery.

 

Tiny Tots

 

A Ballet & Tap or Jazz & Hip Hop combo class for dancers ages 4-5.  These tiny dancers will review and advance their beginning techniques of each style through creative movement and self discovery.

 

Ballet & Pointe

 

Ballet and pointe instruction from beginner levels to advanced, students will focus on proper placement, terminology, and technique of this classic dance form.  *Must have 3 years experience and teacher/director approval for pointe and advanced placement.


Jazz

 

From beginner to advanced, students will build from the basics of jazz & technique and learn various styles in this genre.  Dancers will focus on skills, flexibility, and strength while they gain an understanding of transitions, musicality, and styles. *Requirements apply for advanced levels of Jazz.

 

Technique& Conditioning

 

In technique, dancers will build their vocabulary and skills with turns, leaps, jumps, and flexibility. Conditioning will consist of proper stretching, cardio and endurance training, and exercises to tone and support dancers muscles.

 

Tumbling/Acro

 

 

Developing strength, flexibility and skill building for beginning to advanced tumblers. Students will learn and expand the core tumbling techniques and blend these with a dance atmosphere learning rhythm, fluidity, strength and control.


Contemporary

 

 

Contemporary dance is ever-evolving, so our classes in this genre are dedicated to educating students on its various forms. Dancers will work on transitions, intent, and dynamics in their movement and technical skills. *Registration in ballet is highly recommended for the advanced level of this class.

 

Improv

 

Improvisation allows the dancer to create movement freely. Students will work to explore, discover, and develop their own voice as a dancer.  Various improv techniques and methods will build confidence and an understanding of movement, intent, musicality and energy.


Tap

 

 

Explore multiple styles of tap while working to learn and build upon terminology, rhythm, and proper tap skills. Offered from beginner to advanced levels.

 

Hip Hop

 

Up-beat and high-energy movement, our hip hop classes combine grooves, isolations, and various styles of the genre. Students will learn and develop their skills, strength, musicality and style. 

 

Modern

 

Offered in Intermediate and Advanced levels, our modern is a concept based class; students will develop skills to further their understanding of energy, weight distribution, level and directional changes, as well as transitions and timing.

 

DRESS CODE + ATTENDANCE

*Dancers cannot participate in class if they are not dressed appropriately. No necklaces, bracelets, watches, rings, or dangly earrings are permitted in classes.

Dress Code by Class

Ballet: Girls - Pink tights, leotard, ballet skirt (optional), pink ballet slippers, hair must be in a secured bun
    Boys - Black leggings, white well fitted top, black ballet slippers
Hip Hop: Athletic clothes that are easy to move in, clean tennis shoes (please do not wear them outside and then into the studio), and hair must be pulled back and off face
Jazz, Technique & Conditioning: Tight fitting dancewear, jazz shoes for 1st-8th grade (no shoes for 9th-12th or Pre Pro), hair pulled back securely off face
Contemporary/Lyrical: Tight fitting dancewear, half-shoes for for 1st-8th grade (no shoes for 9th-12th or Pre Pro), hair pulled back off face
Acro/Tumbling: Tight fitting dancewear, no shoes, hair pulled back securely
Tap: Athletic clothes that are easy to move in, all black tap shoes (hard sole for 1st-5th and Beg/Int level, Jason Samual Smith shoes for Pre Pro and Adv level), hair pulled off face
Modern & Style: tight fitting dancewear, no shoes or dance socks (Apolla or the like), hair pulled back off face

Attendance

Dancers must attend 75% of classes per month to remain enrolled in the class and be eligible for the end of the season show.
