You're Invited!
Every season we participate in the Mount Pleasant Christmas Parade and invite all of our dancers to join us! Lots of important information below!
WHO: All CEDC dancers of all ages!
WHAT: Dancers learn some basic dance steps to "walk" in the parade! Little ones (level 1 and our ruffles) are invited to ride the float, and level 2+ can dance with us down the parade route!
WHEN: Parade is Sunday, Dec. 8 from 5:30-9:00pm (event page here!) -- Dancers need to be at the float starting point by 4:45. We won't know our lineup and location until a day or two before the parade.
WHERE: The parade begins at Live Oak Dr. and goes to Patriot's Point Rd. Again, we will let you know our floats starting place for drop off closer to the event! Please like us on Facebook and Instagram where we will post the info once we have it! Dancers will need to be met by a parent at Waterfront Park near the 'Lost Child Tent' for pick up - we will not let any dancers walk back through the parade route to meet parents no matter their age!
Our theme this year is... THE ROCKETTES! We spent so much time prepping for this theme last year and did not get to show it off. For parade attire, dancers should choose to wear all red or all green (the brighter the better!), white or black tennis shoes comfortable for dancing the whole parade route in, and hair secured back in a low ponytail with a middle part slicked back with hairspray and/or hair gel.
Rehearsals:
We will teach the different dance combinations used in the parade during weekly classes after Thanksgiving break. Your dancer can practice those here on our vimeo page (we will post videos the week we start to teach them!).
Dancers planning to dance in the parade with us should attend at least 2 if not all of the following Parade Rehearsals outside of their normal classes:
Sunday, Nov. 24: Level 2 + 3 dancers from 2:00-3:30pm, Level 4 + 5 dancers 3:30-4:30pm
Sunday, Dec. 1: Level 2 + 3 dancers from 2:00-3:30pm, Level 4 + 5 dancers 3:30-4:30pm
Sunday, Dec. 8: All dancers Level 2-5 from 12:00-2:00pm (Parade Day!!)
*wear tennis shoes and clothing to walk outside in for these rehearsals!!
How can you help?
-We need a few parents to help build out and decorate the float on Dec. 8th! Email us if you can be available so we can reach out when it's closer with details!
-Outdoor Christmas lights (large and small!) - this year, white, green, and red please! You can bring them to the front desk during weekly classes.
|-Candy to give out to the parade watchers! (must be individually wrapped)
-A few parents or older sibling volunteers to walk with us to give out candy along the parade route!
